As most of America (and the world) knows by now, Florida was inundated with an unwelcomed guest this past week. Hurricane Irma churned through the Atlantic Ocean and crossed the northern part of Cuba before slamming into Key West and headed north along our Gulf Coast. She made landfall just to the south of Tampa and went straight up the peninsula of the state.
While we were spared in large degree from the massive destruction that a Category 5 hurricane would bring (there's several stories in that statement, alone!), the damage that it did bring even as a Category 1 in some areas were catastrophic. Flooding and power outages are still, even as late as Wednesday, being felt in some areas.
We are grateful that all of Trust Quartet and families survived the storm. We are all physically intact ~ all still have ten fingers and ten toes each. There are, however, some lingering issues that we must address. And with that, some huge prayer concerns that we bring to you, our friends.
Please help us pray much for Spence and Karen. They live in an RV park in Wauchula, on a creek. The creek has overflowed its banks, and was not expected to crest until Thursday, September 14. As of this writing, they are expecting a total loss, with the exception of their vehicles and some of their clothing. Please help us pray for them in this stressful transition.
One of Buzz and Beverly's grandchildren and their family had extensive damage to their home and are now staying with their mom and dad.
We're sure others are inconvenienced and more, but trust that God is aware of these needs and will bring His peace to all those who are trusting in Him.
Due to these, and other issues surrounding Gulf State and Simple Faith Quartets, the POPCORN concert in Auburndale/Winter Haven for Saturday night has been postponed. Be watching for a make-up date as soon as we can schedule it.
Through it all, we are resting in the peace that passes all understanding. The late Andre Crouch wrote, "Through it all, through it all, I've learned to trust in Jesus, I've learned to trust in God. Through it all, through it all, I've learned to depend upon His Word." May those words be our testimony in these stressful days.
Thank you so much for your prayerful support!
The Florida Gospel Music Association was held at the Church of God Campground in Wimauma, FL this past Labor Day weekend, September 1-3. Trust Quartet was among the more than 25 different artists who appeared in three concerts during the weekend.
Trust led off the Saturday night concert, singing a 30-minute set. Others on the program Saturday night included Mark V, The Sheltons, The New Floridians, Lisa Ann Ferguson, and The Backwood Boys, among others.
The evening ended nearly four hours later with all the groups together on stage singing If You Knew Him, In The Presence of Jehovah, and Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus as several gathered at the altar praying and making commitments to Christ to serve Him with a higher zeal.
