TRUST QUARTET NEWSLETTER

August 2010

Trust had already planned to take July & August off for the summer because it is so very, very hot to be unloading and loading the equipment and everyone wanted to take extended vacations. Little did we know that Jerrell & Phyllis were prepared to tell us they were resigning from the group and retiring from Florida to return to their hometown and their family in North Carolina? We were devastated, to say the least. After being together for eight years it was almost more than we could bear, but after the shock and all the hugs and tears, we’ll give you one guess as to who took over? GOD DID! Now, let us tell you what has happened since He took over.

We immediately put this trial into God’s hands because we didn’t know if the ministry of Trust was to continue or if we were to just close the bus door forever. Well, with His (God’s) nudging we immediately hit the web site, and any other site we could find looking for a replacement, including many phone calls and the door did not close. As a result we received phone calls from several singing friends, some who have quartets and some soloist who gave us their encouragement and assured us they were praying for us. Yep, God is still on the throne and He definitely answered all our prayers. The very first phone call Buzz made about the position was to a gentleman who was referred to us by Wayne Groves from New Day, and he advised that he was very interested but had obligations to take care of prior to giving a definite answer. He went on vacation. After a couple of other try outs, and everyone else going on vacation some time passed and this same gentleman called again and voiced a positive desire that he wished to be with a group again.
This gentleman, Rick Costine met with Beverly and me, along with Spence and Karen in Bartow approximately one month ago, and at that time we discovered we had already met Rick at concerts and at the Florida Gospel Music Association Convention when he was singing with other groups. He sang with Gulf State Quartet for many years, and later with New Day, who are all very dear friends and they had recommended Rick and his family to us. We found that he was not a “young man” but younger than we are, oh well, who isn’t? Gary has lost his position as being the youngest. We will NEVER TELL how old Spence and I are.
Our next meeting was held at the big city of Yee Haw Junction, Florida, north of Okeechobee where we met Monica, Rick’s wife. We all sat on the bus and the guys sang and talked for about three hours. We found that Monica is not only a pretty lady she also has a wonderful personality, and WOW what a voice, she and Rick sang a duet and then she sang a solo.  We were most pleased and excited about this new opportunity to further the ministry of Trust Quartet when Rick and Monica informed us that they would love to join the Trust Family.
Rick and Monica have four children but we will let them tell you about their family. We are sure you will love them when you meet them in concert.

Another blessing God sent our way is named Ken. Now let me tell you about Ken, he is Gary’s brother, and came highly recommended by, yea it was Gary. Don’t know much, but we do know he can drive a bus, haul equipment, get it all set up in a flash, take pictures (watch the web site for all of them). We are positively sure that the Lord directed him to the Trust Family, because we are getting older by the minute and the Lord knows we need the help. What a God Send!

Rick, Monica, kids, and Ken,
